Biomarkers in patients with heart failure and congestion

This study is being done to assess the accuracy of newly developed blood and urine tests at measuring the amount of “congestion” - pressure elevation within heart chambers and/or excess body fluid.

The build-up of congestion is a major feature of heart failure and can lead to hospitalisation. Patients with congestion often require a prolonged hospital admission for intravenous diuretics and decongestion.

The identification of congestion can be difficult and current tests have limitations. It is important to find out if someone with heart failure has congestion as they may be able to get treatments which can improve symptoms, reduce the risk of being admitted to hospital or optimise the length of stay in hospital.

If you are interested in taking part in the study, please get in contact with the research team and read the attached patient information sheet (PIS), which will be sent to you by email.

If you would still like to participate once your questions have been answered, you will be asked to sign a consent form via this webpage or in person and to register your personal details.
